Urgent Before and After Care
I caught this nasty influenza virus that has been going around. I knew something was wrong on that Wednesday at work when I felt a bit off. On Thursday, I knew something was going to hit me hard. Sure enough, Friday afternoon, I was out for the count. 102 degrees Fahrenheit fever for a couple of days. Everything had to be canceled. Working on new music, hanging out with Tequila Mockingbird, and shopping. It was god awful.
Sweating like a madman and soaking up the pillows with illness, was not an option. Having decent medical insurance, I told my roommate that I was going to take an UBER or drive myself to the afterhours clinic. She accompanied me and offered to drive. Even though I felt horrible, I drove. Afterall, two years ago when I broke two ribs, I drove myself to the emergency room as no one was available to take me. I had this one.
Luck was very much on my side that 4:30 pm. I was expecting a more than 4 hour wait but ended up being a five minute miracle. I have never seen the afterhours clinic so empty. Didn't matter. I got in. They ran all sorts of tests, and all came back negative expect for the flu. I even had them run several sexually transmitted disease tests just to be on the safe side. Not that I have been jumping from bed to bed lately. I'm just paranoid. Those were negative too. Staff sent me to the pharmacy to pick up some antiviral medication and off we went back home. The next morning, I was feeling so much better. Still a bit out of sorts, but better. I didn't go into work that Monday as the medical staff felt one more day was needed for me to return to full duty.
Today, I'm almost at 95% fully recovered. I still have a slight cough but nothing urgent. Tequila and I went out yesterday and caught up finally. Had a nice lunch and then a movie. Conversation with her is always great. We don't have to pretend to be something that we're not. Just real talk about life and anything really. It's Saturday again. Got the laundry done and aired out the house. I'll save the vacuuming for tomorrow after music rehearsals with Frank on our new music collaboration.
